Welcome to MyndStories
The Autism Living Room is a monthly meet-up for parents of autistic children to talk openly about the realities of raising an autistic child. Parenting an autistic child can come with questions you never expected to have. What does this behaviour mean? Am I responding the right way? How do I explain this to family or to the school? Each month, we’ll come together around a theme, share experiences, learn from one another, and make space for the things that are often difficult to say elsewhere.

Have questions? Read FAQs
This is a peer-support space for parents, facilitated by mental health advocates. The hosts are not professional therapists but people who live with or have experience with neurodiversity.
Every month, we’ll explore a different aspect of parenting an autistic child ranging from getting through everyday challenges and communication to managing expectations, relationships, school, family dynamics and your own emotional world as a parent.
There will be no pressure to speak or share. You can participate in the way that feels right for you.
Theme for the month
For our very first session we will address the issue that parents experience foremost - emotional exhaustion and burnout. We will talk about caregiver exhaustion, guilt, marriage strain, and why it's imperative to prioritize self-care without shame.
A guided conversation
Each session has a theme to give the conversation some direction, while leaving room for what parents actually want to talk about.
A space to share without judgement
Talk about the things you find difficult, confusing, or even joyful.
Perspective from other parents
Hear how other families manage experiences that may feel very familiar to you.
Professional facilitation
Our hosts help keep the conversation supportive, respectful and grounded.
Room for your questions
Bring something you've been thinking about or struggling with.
A sense of connection
Sometimes, knowing that someone else has been there is valuable in itself.
This room is for parents and caregivers of autistic children who want a supportive space to talk about their experiences and learn from others.
You can join if:
Your child has recently been diagnosed
You have been parenting an autistic child for years
You are understanding an assessment or exploring whether your child may be autistic
You are struggling with a particular situation at home or school
You simply want to hear from other parents who understand
You don't need to have a specific question or concern to attend.

Bring whatever is on your mind. There is no preparation required.
This is not a therapy session for your child.
It is not a diagnostic or assessment space.
It is not a parenting class with a list of things you should or shouldn't be doing.
It isn't about comparing children or parents.
This is simply a facilitated space for parents to connect, reflect and share their experiences.
No. Parents who have recently received an assessment or are exploring if their child may be autistic are welcome too.
